Battery Radio produced independent broadcast documentaries and creative sound design for more than two decades. Our productions have won over 40 awards and have been heard around the world. With the death of Christopher Brookes in April 2023, Battery Radio ceased production. We are maintaining the website as a tribute to his legacy.
WHERE WE ARE:
Our studios are in St. John's, Newfoundland on the cliff where Marconi (that's him on the left) received the first trans-Atlantic radio signal in 1901. Our kite is smaller.
WHAT ELSE WE DID:
We also (since 2009) produced interactive place-based documentary and fiction installations. You can experience these locative soundwalks strolling through a landscape using your mobile phone.
